Chief of all U.S. Army Bands during World War II.  Organized many army bands and appointed many army bandmasters throughout the United States during World War II.  Made many innovations that are still in effect in all the army bands today.  Very famous guest conductor.  Known for his adjudication and organizational abilities.  Past President of the American Bandmasters Association.
